tendercare's founder wins the 2026 John Hopper Impact Award
Recognized for turning one of the hardest moments in family life into one where families feel supported and in control.
When a parent is diagnosed, or discharged, or something shifts overnight, most families are left to piece together elder care on their own. That's the problem tendercare was built to solve. This week, that work earned some meaningful recognition.
Shauna Sweeney, our founder and CEO, has been named the winner of the 2026 John Hopper Impact Award by Ziegler and the Ziegler Link-age Funds. The award, announced at the What's Next Longevity Venture Summit, honors an entrepreneur whose work is transforming how America ages. This year's theme was Empowered Care: keeping older adults and their families in control through every stage and setting of aging.
"Shauna Sweeney has done something rare, turning one of the most chaotic moments in family life into one where families actually feel supported and in control," said Katie Schmitz, Managing Partner of the Ziegler Link-age Funds. "tendercare is Empowered Care in action."
Shauna built tendercare to be the front door to elder care her own family didn't have when her dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's twelve years ago. So this one is really about the families who deserve better, and the work still ahead.
