Assisted Living Locators Flower Mound
Stephanie Valadez
Stephanie is a Carrollton native and the daughter of immigrants who became a first-generation college graduate; a background that shaped her commitment to access, advocacy, and helping people navigate systems that weren't built with them in mind. Before launching Assisted Living Locators, she spent years leading workforce equity programs in DFW, including serving as Managing Director of Per Scholas Dallas, where her chapter was named a finalist for the Most Innovative Nonprofit award and received the inaugural Emerging Leaders in Philanthropy grant from Communities Foundation of Texas. Today, she continues her commitment by volunteering with Metrocrest Services and serving on the Advisory Board of the American Red Cross North Texas Region. She lives with her family in the community she serves.
About Stephanie Valadez
Assisted Living Locators Flower Mound & Surrounding Denton County Areas offers a no-cost,
local senior living placement service to families in Flower Mound, Carrollton, Lewisville, Denton,
Frisco, Coppell, and surrounding communities across Denton County and the broader DFW
area. Stephanie helps families explore the full range of senior living options—including
independent living, assisted living, memory care, and residential care homes. She is the
consistent guide, leading them from initial assessment to curated community tours and essential
post-placement follow-up. The service is free to families.
The engagement process is designed to bring confidence and clarity. It begins with a structured
intake assessment covering crucial areas: care needs, cognition, mobility, finances, and location
preferences. To ensure quality, Stephanie personally visits every recommended
community—meeting staff, observing operations, and evaluating quality firsthand. She then
presents families with a curated shortlist of options they can choose from with confidence.
Post-placement support is hands-on: coordinating logistics, checking in on successful
integration, and remaining accessible throughout the transition.
Stephanie Valadez came to this work the way many people do, through her own family. She
grew up in the Carrollton area and has spent years navigating care decisions for her
grandparents, and now in the early stages for her parents. That experience didn't just inform her
empathy, it gave her a clear-eyed understanding of what families are actually up against when
they're trying to find care under pressure: the grief, the guilt, the fear of making the wrong call.
What sets her apart is how she handles the moments when families are most stuck. In complex
cases: Parkinson's, Alzheimer’s and Lewy body dementia, situations where a standard
community setting won't provide enough focus - she does the diagnostic work to understand
what's really needed, then leans on her network for second opinions before making a
recommendation. She won't rush a placement: even in urgent situations, she holds the line on a
realistic timeline, because the checks and balances matter.
Her background is unconventional for this field. Twenty years in HR, executive coaching, and
nonprofit leadership trained her to hear not just what families are asking for, but what they're not
saying. She also insists on staying true to her experience - referring medical and legal questions
to trusted partners rather than improvising - and she consistently gives families two solid options
rather than a single recommendation, so no one feels steered. Her goal, as she described
herself, is to serve as an outside advocate who gives families the space to prioritize their loved
one's dignity throughout the process.
